Pentair IntelliCenter and EasyTouch, Hayward OmniLogic, Jandy iAquaLink — most North County pads put in over the last decade run one of these, and they all fail in the same handful of ways. The app can't see the panel. The panel is on but a piece of equipment won't respond. The pool-spa valves don't turn. The schedule runs but the pump comes on at the wrong speed. Or everything works from the panel and nothing works from the phone.
We start with what's cheapest. Power to the panel and the transformer inside it, then the relays — a relay that's stuck open is the single most common reason a pump or light won't come on from automation, and you can hear it not click. Actuators next: the small motors that swing the pool-spa valves fail from sun and from valves that have gotten stiff, and a valve that's binding will strip an actuator's cam. Then communications: the RS-485 wiring to the pump and cell, which corrodes at the terminals on coastal pads; the antenna or Wi-Fi bridge; and whether the panel's firmware has fallen so far behind that the app dropped it. On the pump side, we confirm the pump is in the mode the panel expects, because a variable-speed pump set to local control will ignore the automation entirely and look broken.
The finding goes to you in writing: which component, what it's doing, and whether we sorted it on the spot — a programming fix, a re-pairing, a valve freed up, a schedule corrected — or whether it needs a C-53. A lot of automation calls end with the first kind.
Work that needs a C-53 — panel, relay, actuator, or wiring — goes to our referral partner: Pool-Clinic Inc., a licensed C-53 swimming pool contractor, CSLB #1122305. You contract with them directly and pay them directly. We take nothing. Our write-up goes with you, so you know exactly what you're being quoted for.
Text us the make and a photo of the panel and we'll tell you the first thing to try.
